I’m going to be working on a report that is a Social Studies and Reading workshop grade. This report is going to be about a person that was in Ancient Egypt and how this person made an impact on the development of his or her civilization and other important facts. I’m writing about Hatshepsut, one of the few women rulers.
Hatshepsut’s civilization was Ancient Egypt. Hatshepsut was the first woman pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt. At first she was not Pharaoh but her husband who was the Pharaoh at the time died and they were going to make their son pharaoh but he was to young, so she became pharaoh. She ruled between the time period of 1479–1458 BC. She was the fifth pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt to rule.
The eighth year of her reign, Hatshepsut organized the biggest trading expedition of her career. The goal of Hatshepsut expedition was to trade with Egypt’s neighbors to the south in Punt. They had huge caravans of scribes, soldiers and artists and went to the Red sea. When they got there they loaded the cargo on Sleek ship for the long journey south. When they arrived in Punt Hatshepsut’s scribes displayed the jewelry, papyrus and bronze weapons that were being traded. In exchange the Pharaoh received gold, perfume, ivory, leopard skins and even live apes. The Egyptians returned home to Egypt. The entire expedition lasted two years.
